The Akua Boahemaa Memorial Maternity Ward is the Family Birth Centre that is dedicated to serving families through excellence in individualized care. It is our belief that the birth of your baby is one of the most important events in your lifetime. As each individual is unique, so is each pregnancy and birthing

Our midwives are advanced-practice providers with specialized training, education and certification in obstetrics and women’s health. Nurses and midwives care for women from early adolescence through the onset of menopause, including prenatal and birth care.

We are anxiously awaiting your arrival ! The Akua Boahemaa Memorial Maternity Ward is equipped to make delivery experience a happy and healthy one. From our trained obstetrics team to our comfortable environment and caring staff, we are here to help you prepare for labour, delivery and your postpartum experience, all close to home.

Our Baby-Friendly Environment

constitutes an initiative that encourages and recognizes our birth centre because it offers a high level of care for breast-feeding mothers and their babies. Focus is placed on mother-baby bonding through skin-to-skin contact.

A significant measure towards the promotion of breast-feeding and baby bonding involves the keeping of the baby in the same room with the mother from the beginning, without separation unless additional monitoring for medical safety is required. The measure reassures the mother that her new bundle of joy is secure with her at all times.
