Thompson Sarkodie-Gyan, D.Sc., earned a Master of Engineering Sciences (Dipl. Ing) degree in Technical Cybernetics and Electrical Engineering from the Technical University Otto-von-Guericke Magdeburg, and the Doctor of Engineering Sciences (Dr.-Ing.) degree in Process Measurement and Control Engineering from the Technical University Berlin.

His professional experience derives from academic appointments at institutions of higher education in Germany, United Kingdom, South America, China and the United States. He earned the title of a Reader in Cybernetics and Systems Science in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the World Federation of Neurorehabilitation, Chartered Engineer (CEng.) of the Royal Charter, Fellow of the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC), a certified European Engineer of the FEANI (Eur Ing), and a Distinguished Member of the German Institution of Engineers (VDI/VDE)-Gesellschaft Mess-und Automatisierungstechnik.

 Professor Sarkodie-Gyan’s areas of specialization are in technical cybernetics and systems science, measurement and instrumentation, automatic control systems, artificial and computational intelligence, experimental physiology, applied mathematics, sensors technology, and biomedical engineering.

Professor Sarkodie-Gyan is an author, reviewer, educator, scholar, inventor and a researcher. He has successfully supervised more than twenty-five candidates for the highest academic degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in his areas of specialization including machine vision and pattern recognition, robotics, automatic controls, artificial and computational intelligence, sensor technology (biosensors), and biomedical engineering. He has also served as an external examiner for Ph.D. candidates in the United Kingdom, France, and the United States. He is the author of two books Neurorehabilitation Devices (McGraw Hill, 2005); The Human Locomotor System (Springer, 2023).  He has published extensively in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, served as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), and is on the editorial boards of several high-impact peer-reviewed journals. He holds patents in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Professor Dr.-Ing. Sarkodie-Gyan is the Executive Director of the Kwaku Gyamaah Memorial Clinic in Kintampo, Bono East Region of Ghana.

Professor Sarkodie-Gyan exhibits excellent knowledge of various languages including English, French, German and (Latin).
